The Resident 2011 out of 4 Really disappointing film from Hammer about an ER doctor Hilary Swank who moves into a lavished apartment in Brooklyn and soon discovers that her kind-hearted landlord Jeffrey Dean MOrgan is actually obsessed with her. The storytelling is more efficient does well to build tension with better character building. Therefore I recommend renting an older film that employs this time tested formula only one that does it better.
The film is empty-headed good fun thats blessedly under two hours and has just enough character development to make you kind of care when someone gets bitten. Overall the Resident Evil series is a great action series and a great time consumer especially while stuck at home.
This Resident Evil is much more accurate when it comes to having some of the plot elements and characters that we expect but its mostly just surface level because none of these characters actually feel like the video game counterparts. Episode 2 brings a mass infusion of new characters including an oncologist played by Providence vet Melina Kanakaredes that leaves the cast feeling overcrowded.
